Ecclestone: "Even in a shortened season, Hamilton would win everything"

Bernie Ecclestone, former owner of Formula 1, has already indicated that he does not expect many Grands Prix to be held in the current season of Formula 1. In an interview with BBC Radio, the Briton now indicates that when races will be held, it is already clear to him who will be the champion in the 2020 season.

"I don't think it's gonna make much difference to Lewis Hamilton. He'll win, no matter how many races there are. Whether it's sixteen or twenty races," Ecclestone said. "If it's a World Championship and he wins this year, this will just go down in the books as his seventh title. Worst of all, he would win all the races, so it wouldn't be a super championship either."

Ecclestone had said something about Liberty Media and the F1-season. "I already told them to just stop this year and start over next year. I don't see it happening that they can race the right amount of races to form a championship. And if they manage to organize races, you have to think about whether all the teams can participate".

Since Ecclestone is no longer in Formula 1, he has repeatedly expressed his criticism in the media about the actions of Liberty Media, the new owner of Formula 1. Ecclestone indicates that the championship should be scrapped altogether this year, but it remains to be seen whether Liberty Media will take any notice of Ecclestone's advice.
