The staff of the Renault Formula 1 team at the Enstone plant will be on long-term leave. Renault takes this measure to protect its employees and the future of the team.

Work at the Enstone factory has been at a standstill since the beginning of this month and will certainly continue until the end of May. The team also joins some other teams by requesting financial support from the British government.

"Renault Sport Racing has decided to retrospectively apply for the Job Retention Scheme set up by the British government. As of April 1st, the vast majority of Enstone staff will effectively have a total shutdown (furlough) until May 31st. This will be reviewed dependent on the development of the situation", reads the statement from Renault.

Under this government scheme, salaries of up to 2500 pounds are paid. Renault has indicated that it will fill the higher salaries up to 80% of the original monthly amount. The factory where the F1 engines are being developed in Viry-Chatillon, near Paris, is still running, but employees only work part-time.
