Ferrari already lends FIA a helping hand in discussing legality Racing Point

Renault was not satisfied with the RP20 of Racing Point. Racing Point's new car was called the pink Mercedes at the beginning of the year. McLaren and Ferrari also appear to be unhappy with the copy and pasting of Racing Point. Ferrari sent an angry letter to the FIA and asked for an explanation.

Ferrari does its own research

Scuderia Ferrari soon joined Renault F1 when they openly declared their displeasure with Racing Point to the FIA and made a protest. Ferrari has now sent a letter to the FIA asking for an explanation as to why Racing Point has been allowed to recreate the Mercedes W10 of 2019.

Renault's complaint will be dealt with on Wednesday. However, Ferrari has now come out with an indication as to why Renault is right. Ferrari draws the FIA's attention to Appendix 6 of the F1 sporting regulations. This appendix contains an overview of so-called 'listed parts' which have to be made by each manufacturer itself.

Changes in the rules cause uncertainty

Both the Racing Point and the Mercedes F1 team have used the same supplier for a part, notes Motorsport.com. This is not allowed. The problem now lies in the brakes, which were not yet in the 'Listed Parts' category last year.

Andy Green is able to show for the other parts that there are no infringements for the Racing Point and Mercedes parts this year. The brake lines that didn't belong to the Listed Parts category last year are now a problem.

Ferrari threatens Liberty Media that if this is not dealt with adequately, they don't want to sign the Concorde Agreement and they will reopen the discussion about it. It still is a difficult agreement which slowly but surely is getting closer and closer to unanimity. More discussion is not desirable.
