It was the spectacle the Grand Prix of Great Britain needed. Three cars that got a flat tire in the final phase of the Grand Prix. Unfortunately these punctures weren't caused by wear and tear, but are expected to be caused by damage to the tyre. The Silverstone circuit is taking measures to prevent that damage during the second Grand Prix at Silverstone.

At the exit of Chapel there were a lot of drivers who shot just a little bit off the track. This caused a cloud of dust to form on the sand, which then reappeared on the track. A spokesman of Silverstone indicated that the circuit is making changes at the exit of Chapel to keep the drivers inside the track.

Extra kerbstone at the exit

To help drivers follow the track limits, we've added a 23 metre section at the exit of turn 13", the spokesperson explains to Motorsport.com. The whole weekend it was already clear that many drivers suffered damage to the tyres, Mario Isola also saw.

"We already noticed some damage to the tyres on Friday and that was probably caused by rubbish at that kerbstone. It's really nice that we are working on that. With a small adjustment the situation can improve a lot". Isola will hope that the situation on the track will improve, as Pirelli will bring softer tires this weekend, which will cause more wear and tear.
