Valtteri Bottas looks back on his first day at Silverstone with a good feeling. Last week Mercedes was already dominant during this year's first race at Silverstone, and that seems to continue for the German team this weekend. With a double one-two, the start is at least there for Toto Wolff's team.

"It's a weird situation, at the beginning of the lap the soft tyre is clearly better, but it disappears too quickly. That's why the times on the soft tyre and the medium tyre match," Bottas starts explaining to Sky Sports after the second free practice session. "The setup I started with this weekend was clearly better than what I had during qualifying and the race last week."

Bottas wanted a contract for two years

This week, the Finn extended his contract with Mercedes for another year, but would have preferred it to be different, he explains. "To be honest I asked if I could get two years, but they said no. They themselves had a plan to only do one year, so I agreed to that". Bottas expects his chances to come this year. "There will be plenty of races and chances to win this year and next year I'm really going to fight", concludes the Finn.
