Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of 2020 and it is still unclear whether the four-time world champion will stay in Formula 1 at all. The German also sees that F1 still has a whole mountain to climb as a sport.

Over the years, Vettel has always been busy with Formula 1. Not only is the German racing himself, but he is also concerned about safety and the future of the sport. When the Italian Motorsport.it asks him about the future of Formula 1, Vettel is open about his vision.

A gloomy future for Formula 1

''First of all, I don't think you should just look at Formula 1, but at the changing situation in the world. Where will the world be in ten years' time is actually the first question you have to ask yourself. If you look at Formula 1, I believe that the sport has a huge mountain to climb in order to survive'', it doesn't sound too positive.

''You want to attract fans and evoke emotions, but the world is changing fast and so F1 has to adapt. We know that new regulations are coming, but I doubt if that is enough. The hope is that the new rules will bring teams and drivers closer together, but the sport cannot close its eyes to the changing world. It will be very interesting to see where F1 will be in 10 years' time,'' concludes the Ferrari driver.
