Christian Horner has commented on the bad weekend Red Bull Racing had the Italian Grand Prix. The team boss of the Milton Keynes-based team stated that Max Verstappen's engine problem could not be solved and that Alexander Albon lost one second per lap due to damage suffered early on.

"First of all, I'd like to congratulate everyone at AlphaTauri, especially Franz Tost, Pierre Gasly and Honda, who put in something crazy today to take the win here," said Horner.

For Red Bull, the weekend is one to forget. It started on Friday and the Austrian team were unable to turn the tide. "Our challenging weekend had a sequel in the race. Max was stuck in a DRS train after the start. That's almost impossible to break on this circuit," the 46-year-old boss explained. "Alex had damage after contact in the first corner. He was also given a tough five-second time penalty, which put him at the back of the field."

Red Bull is going to put heads together

During the restart of the GP, Verstappen had to deal with an engine problem. "We couldn't solve it, so Max had to give up after thirty laps. For Alex, the damage to his floor was considerable. He lost about one second per lap during the race. It wasn't our best weekend, but we will reconvene and work hard to make sure we are back where we belong next weekend in Mugello," Horner concluded.
