Sergio Perez says the air has been “totally cleared” after holding talks with the Racing Point Formula 1 team following his claims that information was being withheld from him ahead of the Russian Grand Prix.

Perez is leaving Racing Point at the end of the season and will be replaced by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel next year, with his departure confirmed ahead of the Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello.

Speaking to media in Russia on Thursday ahead of this weekend’s race, Perez claimed that some members of the team had started to “hide things” from him following the announcement of his impending exit.

But in a social media post on Friday morning, the Mexican revealed he had sat down to talk with Racing Point about his comments and said that things have now been resolved.

"I have known this team for seven years and they are like family," Perez wrote on Twitter.

"I have spoken to the team and they accept my explanation. There's no way after seven years we can finish in bad terms, the air is totally cleared.

"And we all move forwards now. We all want the same thing: to score as many points and be successful in our remaining races together.

"We will push and go for more podiums in this 8th [sic] final races together."

It is not uncommon for teams to hold back information from drivers who are about to leave the team to avoid the possibility of information being carried over to a rival.

Perez is yet to secure a drive for 2021 but said on Thursday that he has begun talks with teams to try and seal a landing spot on the grid for next year.
