Jos and Max Verstappen provide hilarity after a painful mistake

During a Formula 1 weekend it is always crowded in the paddock, even when the number of presences has been screwed down this year by the coronavirus. This also means that some people are seen in front of someone else, as was the case today.

It is no secret that there is more than one contact between Mercedes and the Verstappen family. After all, a spot on the team would be a nice step towards Max Verstappen's first world title. British journalist Chris Medland thought he saw Jos Verstappen and Toto Wolff having a chat today, possibly to talk about a potential changeover. Medland then shared that news via Twitter.

An embarrassing mistake

Max Verstappen alone was quick to get rid of the rumors. As a reaction, the Dutch driver announced that his father is not in the paddock at all, because he is taking care of Max's little brother on the couch at home. Or maybe Jos can teleport?

A few minutes later Jos himself responded to the Tweet of Medland. According to father Verstappen he might have been trying to get a spot at Mercedes himself, for a glorious return to Formula 1. Jos then joked that his son knows perfectly well how fast he is, so he can easily travel between the Netherlands and Bahrain. In any case, the confusion in the paddock has caused a lot of hilarity on Twitter.
