Red Bull Racing and Honda are entering their final year of cooperation, as Honda has decided to pull the plug on the Formula One project. It is a difficult moment, especially for Honda's staff.

Honda returned to Formula 1 in 2015, and after difficult years at McLaren, finally got it right at Toro Rosso and a year later Red Bull Racing. The partnership started to produce victories, but then came the message from the Honda management. The project would be stopped.

Last push from Honda

''It's like family, so for us as staff it's very tough. Of course we looked for a way to continue, but it is a decision of the company and that is very heavy for us. We now want to meet the expectations of the teams and drivers, even though we only have one year left," Masashi Yamamoto told The Race.

''We haven't saved our goal of becoming world champions yet. We love racing and are not satisfied with not having achieved our goal yet. That is why we have brought the 2022 engine forward from 2021, because people are getting motivated to increase the performance. We will work hard for the start of the 2021 season: The last season for Honda in Formula 1," concludes Honda's chief executive.
