The field of participants for the 2021 Formula 2 season is starting to fill up. Following announcements from Red Bull and Ferrari, HWA Racelab has now also announced their line-up for the new Formula 2 season.

F2 2021 is taking shape

Formula 2 is the last class before Formula 1 and is considered the ideal gauge for young talent. From the 2020 season, three men have made the step up to Formula 1: champion Mick Schumacher, number three Yuki Tsunoda and number five in the standings Nikita Mazepin.

There are also big names at the start of the season in 2021. Red Bull previously announced that three of their talents will be at the start of the new season. Liam Lawson and Juri Vips will drive for Hitech and Jehan Daruvala will return for a second season with Carlin, after ending 2020 with a victory.

HWA goes the Italian way

Championship team Prema has also already completed its line-up for 2021, with fourth-place finisher Robert Shwartzman a would-be title contender and Oscar Piastri an impressive young talent from the Renault school, who will make the switch as Formula 3 champion. Felipe Drugovich (UNI-Virtuosi), Lirim Zendeli (MP Motorsport) and Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing) have also been announced.

On Friday, the names of Matteo Nannini and Alessio Deledda can be added. They will be in action for HWA Racelab. Nannini is the nephew of former Formula 1 driver and race winner Alessandro Nannini, but did not make a huge impression in Formula 3 last season. The other Italian is 26 years old and has never won a formula car or even managed a podium. Not a very impressive line-up for HWA at first sight.
