Jost Capito, the brand new CEO of Williams, has also commented on the recently announced return of Jenson Button to his home team Williams. Capito says that bringing in the former driver is another step in what he calls 'the transformation of Williams'

Williams has been on the right track for some time now and seems to be breaking out of its multi-year downward spiral. The team has recently forged closer links with Mercedes. According to Capito, Button's appointment is therefore a logical next step in his resuscitation of the team. Capito explains, quoted on the official Williams website: “Bringing Jenson back on board is another positive step to help us move forward as a team both on and off track. Jenson has always been a friend of the team and so it is great to welcome him back into the Williams family.”

Widely respected

Capito continued: “Back in 2000, Sir Frank saw the promising talent Jenson had as a driver and gave him his first opportunity in F1. He more than fulfilled that initial promise throughout a glittering career that culminated in world championship glory.”

Capito is not only impressed with Button's legacy as a racer, but also his work as an analyst for Sky Sports. Capito: “More recently, he has shown his acumen in both the business and broadcasting worlds and remains a widely respected figure in the paddock. All this experience will add another layer to our transformation both technically and as a business. I know everyone at Grove has huge respect for him and we’re delighted to start working with him.”
