The Bahrain Grand Prix was especially exciting in the final stages, when Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen battled for victory. Verstappen, however, was forced to concede victory to Hamilton after partly overtaking outside track limits. Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner feels it is a bad thing that there is a grey area in the regulations.

"It was a great race, although losing the race was tough," Horner told the Talking Bull-podcast. "It was an exciting duel, both on track between Max and Lewis and between the strategists from Red Bull and Mercedes. For a while I thought we had it together, but unfortunately it wasn't to be."

Grey area in track limits rules

The team are all the more motivated for the rest of the season now, Horner said. The Red Bull team boss therefore expects an exciting battle between them and Mercedes. "I think and hope it will be an exciting and intense battle. That's what everyone needs, you could see that in the reactions of the fans after the race. I think therefore that Formula 1 in general is the winner here", he continues.

With regard to the discussion on track limits, Horner takes a clear stance. "Before the race it was clear: if you got a lasting advantage out of it, like an overtaking move, you have to give the spot back. But there was a grey area in terms of abusing track limits earlier in the race. Everyone just wants clarity. The worst thing for everyone is if you can use it in one instance, but not in another."
