During the first free practice, Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon hit each other before entering the Villeneuve-chicane. Christian Horner was immediately asked what exactly happened, but couldn't clarify much either.

Ocon and Perez hit each other

It is at least unusual for two drivers to hit each other in the first free practice session of a weekend. Yet it happened to Ocon and Perez. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner says he doesn't yet know exactly what happened between the two former teammates.

"Perez was on a flying lap and there was contact between the two guys going into the corner. That's all I can tell, I haven't seen a replay I've only got it second hand from the driver," he revealed during the session.

Repair work begins for Alpine and Red Bull

Both cars were damaged and will need to be repaired for the afternoon session. Perez's left rear wheel sustained damage, while Ocon's right front end has damage.
