Kimi Raikkonen was left confused by his 30-second time penalty after he initially finished in ninth place in Imola. The Finn was penalised for not entering the pitlane following his spin at turn three as well as not re-gaining his position at the safety car restart a lap later. It was a bizarre penalty for Raikkonen who had no idea he broke any rules during the red flag and safety car procedures. "As far as I know, nobody warned me on anything so I don't know about it," Raikkonen told RacingNews365.com and other select members of the press. "Unfortunately, we then got this penalty that means we don’t get anything to show for it, but at least we can look positively at our performance." Raikkonen had been running strongly and was hindered by the red flag as his main rivals caught up to the Finn who had a great stint in the mixed conditions. The Alfa Romeo driver then held off Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso in the remaining 15 laps to score what should have been the team's first points of 2021. "The conditions were pretty tricky," said Raikkonen. "We made a good start and just then ,on the first part of the lap we couldn't see anything behind the other cars. "I was quite ok on the intermediates and also on mediums after the first stop. We struggled a bit after the red flag but luckily it's difficult to overtake so we could keep the position. "For sure we're not that strong here [in Imola], hopefully next race it's better for. We were very close to the points in the last race and then in these kind of conditions, if you stay out of trouble you're gonna be somewhere around the points. "We had speed in the right places and we'll take the positives."
