Max Verstappen was one of the few drivers in Imola who didn't really make a mistake. Where almost every driver made a visit to the gravel, Verstappen was almost faultless. Giancarlo Minardi has praise for the Dutchman.

Max Verstappen drove a strong race in Imola. During the restart after the red flag, there was a moment of drama when Verstappen almost went into a spin, but he managed to recover. While many others lost places in spins or were even out of the race, Verstappen kept his cool during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Success of Verstappen

''The weather made for a great Grand Prix with Verstappen's success. He was the key player in this great race and one of the few who made very few mistakes. It was a nice duel with Lewis Hamilton, who is fast and lucky. After his mistake came the red flag, but he was very strong in recovering his position,'' explained Minardi to Formulapassion.it.

The two had to do it alone up front. Sergio Perez had fallen further back and Valtteri Bottas was nowhere to be seen either. ''He struggled with so much until the crash with Russell. The Brit is absolutely to blame because he held his throttle and lost control in the wet. A serious mistake," concluded the founder of former Formula One team Minardi.
