Horner: "If it is necessary, we don't have a big problem with it"

Zak Brown expressed his concerns earlier this week about the way the teams currently work with each other. The McLaren CEO is concerned that the freedom around voting is being curtailed and therefore suggests voting by secret ballot.

Christian Horner thinks it's an interesting idea, although he's not sure it's the solution. "It would be a shame to have to go after a secret ballot, but a team has the right to ask for that," the Red Bull team boss states in conversation with Motorsport. "If that is necessary to vote independently, then we don't have a big problem with it."

Secret ballots

Ferrari sporting director Laurent Mekies previously stated that within the board system it is already possible for secret ballots to take place. "The secret ballot option has been in the board for a long time. It's just the fact that maybe we haven't used it often, or certainly not in recent years. It's good to be able to use it."

Among others, the teams of Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri work closely together. In addition, Mercedes supplies engines to McLaren, Williams and Aston Martin, so many teams are dependent on each other.
