Alfa Romeo confirm request to FIA for review of Raikkonen Imola penalty

Alfa Romeo have confirmed they have requested a review into Kimi Raikkonen's penalty at the Emilia Romagna GP.

Alfa Romeo have requested a steward's review of the penalty that was handed out to Kimi Raikkonen at the Emilia Romagna GP. The Finn was given a thirty second time penalty, dropping him from a points finish for ninth to a 13th place finish. This was after he was deemed to have broken race restart procedures for failing to enter the pitlane for the race restart after the red flag was shown for the Valtteri Bottas/George Russell crash. The conflicting application of the regulations was admitted by the stewards in their decision document and, as a result, Alfa have confirmed to RacingNews365.com that they have formally requested a review of the penalty with the stewards. The FIA's International Sporting Code does allow for such a review, if a significant or relevant new element is discovered'. A video conference between Alfa representatives and the FIA stewards will be held on Saturday evening to discuss the penalty, and whether the 'new element' that Alfa can present is enough to take the next step of appeal.
