Tsunoda apologises after making comments about team

Yuki Tsunoda has apologised after making comments about AlphaTauri, suggesting that he and Pierre Gasly weren't receiving the same equipment.

Yuki Tsunoda has apologised publicly for comments he made in the wake of being eliminated in the first part of qualifying in Spain. The Japanese rookie was knocked out in 16th place after failing to put in a good final run as he kicked up gravel in the third sector, while teammate Pierre Gasly finished in fifth in the same session. Speaking after the session, Tsunoda made comments that could be seen as inflammatory towards his team. "It's a different fit compared to my teammate so I have a bit of a question mark is it the same car?" Tsunoda said to Sky Sports F1. "Of course it's the same car but the character is too different. Maybe of course it's just the driving style but I don't understand what's happened, why I'm struggling this much." He has since taken to Instagram to post a public apology, saying he was wrong to have an outburst like that before speaking to the team. "I am very fortunate to have a group of such talented and hardworking people working on my car and wanted to apologise to the team for my comments today," Tsunoda posted. "I couldn't maximise the potential of the car and was frustrated with myself. "Tonight, I will analyse the data with my engineers and make sure to improve for tomorrow."
