Romain Grosjean believes the current Haas drivers are having to push too hard in order to keep up with the rest of the field, leading to their errors. Both Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin have made varius driving errors since the start of the season, with the Russian driver in particular struggling to adjust to life in Formula 1 with a recaltricant car. Grosjean, who lost his seat with the Haas team at the end of 2020, believes he understands why the pair are finding it so difficult to drive the VF-21, which is an evolution of the 2020 car which he drove and claimed was 'quite benign' to race. "I think they obviously haven't been given the best tools," Grosjean told Tom Clarkson on the Beyond The Grid podcast. "In racing, you know, you may do a good lap but when you see that the car in front of you is a second faster because it's a faster car, you're going to try to get and get that second and that's when you start driving 110% instead of 100. And things can get a little bit sketchy. "Obviously we've seen a couple of mistakes from them but again they they must be trying to stay with the pack to catch up, you know, the car it doesn't look that different from from last year. And I think it's just not a good enough car to fight for good position."
