Nissany replacing Russell for French GP practice session

Roy Nissany will return for another F1 outing this weekend, as the Israeli driver will take over George Russell's Williams for first practice

Roy Nissany will get another chance to drive the Williams FW43B this weekend, as the Formula 2 racer has been given a call-up for the first practice session. Having already taken part in FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix, Nissany will drive the Williams for first practice at Paul Ricard in place of George Russell. "This weekend we welcome back Roy Nissany who will drive George’s car in FP1," said Williams Head of Vehicle Performance Dave Robson. "As usual, Roy will take an active role in our engineering programme, further evaluating some of the components that we introduced in Azerbaijan. "His experience of driving at this circuit and his feeling for the car will help us understand the details of the new parts. Nicholas will follow a similar programme in FP1, mixing his race preparation with some component testing. George will be back in the car for FP2 and will concentrate on his race preparation." Nissany, who is making his fifth first practice appearance with the team over the past season and a half, will be able to concentrate solely on his F1 duties, as Formula 2 will not be racing at Paul Ricard. I can’t wait to be back in the car, it’s very addictive!" said Nissany. "Circuit Paul Ricard is a special track for me, I love the layout and have great memories from there. The last sector is usually very challenging, and I can’t wait to experience it in the FW43B."
