Red Bull Racing has installed fresh internal combustion engines into both its cars while Sergio Perez has been fined for exceeding the speed limit during the opening practice session.

For the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship, exhaust systems have been added to the list of limited-use components, with each driver allowed no more than eight per season.

Should a driver exceed that limit, grid penalties will apply, just as with engines (ICE) (three per season), motor generator units-heat (MGU-H) (three), turbochargers (TC) (three), energy stores (ES) (two), control electronics (CE) (two), and motor generator units-kinetic (MGU-K) (three).

At the French Grand Prix, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will use a fresh internal combustion engine with all these drivers having only used a single ICE so far this season. Furthermore, this group of five drivers will also have access to a fresh turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K.

Valtteri Bottas will race with a new energy store which is one of the two new energy stores allowed for the 2021 Championship season.

The Finn and the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will use a new control electronics which is one of the two new control electronics allowed for the 2021 Championship season for all three drivers.

Verstappen, Perez and Gasly will compete at the French Grand Prix with a new exhaust system with this new unit being the third one of the eight new exhaust systems allowed for the 2021 Championship season.

As far as the gearbox is concerned, a number of drivers will use a fresh unit including Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris, Lance Stroll, Sebastian Vettel, Alonso, Ocon, Sainz, Kimi Räikkönen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Nicholas Latifi and George Russell.

Furthermore, Sergio Perez has been fined €1000 for exceeding the pit lane speed limit which is set at 60 km/h for this Event by 16.5 km/h. The incident happened during the first free practice session.
