Max Verstappen set an excellent result during the French Grand Prix by taking victory. His teammate Sergio Pérez also did well with a third place, although that could have been different.

The Mexican was driving behind the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas at the end of the race. Pérez then had to work hard to overtake his rival and eventually did so, but he ended up off-track during his overtake. Therefore, the question was whether Pérez would not receive a time penalty after the race, but that was not the case.

According to Motorsport.com, the FIA said: “The Stewards determined that Perez had fully completed the pass on Bottas by the time he left the track at Turn 10. This made the fact that he left the track subsequently as a standard “track limits” question. The Stewards determined that Perez lost sufficient ground in the following turn that he could not be deemed to have ‘gained a lasting advantage’.”

Good period for Pérez

Pérez' third place is an excellent continuation of his performance in recent weeks. The Red Bull driver finished first in Azerbaijan, showing that he still has qualities left in him. For the moment he is third in the world championship with 84 points.
