Gasly on his future: 'Don't know what the will of Marko is'

Pierre Gasly was overjoyed to take over the seat alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing following the departure of Daniel Ricciardo. Unfortunately, the adventure turned out to be a big disappointment for the young Frenchman, and he was transferred back to Toro Rosso, the current AlphaTauri, in his first season. Where many drivers, like Kvyat, never managed to play a significant role again, Gasly seems to have turned his frustrations into achievements, because since his return to AlphaTauri he has finished on the podium several times and even won a race.

Future

While Gasly has repeatedly stated that he sees it as a goal to return to the Red Bull team, Helmut Marko has always been critical of that. "To be honest I have no idea at the moment, it's something we're going to talk about with Red Bull and with Helmut [Marko] in particular," Gasly told F1.com. "I don't know what Helmut's will is and what - whether they want to take me back, whether they want me to stay at AlphaTauri, whether they are willing to release me to another team."

Gasly is now flirting with interest from other teams, so the question is what will happen in the future?"Yes, [there is] interest; I am doing my best, showing my potential, giving the best of myself at AlphaTauri and I think what we are doing at the moment is very good. I really hope we can get the best result in the team championship for the team this year, the best since the team has been in Formula One."

Ball is in Red Bull's court

In any case, the Frenchman indicates that the ball is clearly in the Milton Keynes-based team's court when it comes to his future, but as mentioned, is now focusing on performance at AlphaTauri: "That's my personal goal and then yes, we'll see in the future what are the most attractive options we have. At the end of the day it's all about Red Bull and yes, we'll discuss with them what we're going to do together," he concluded.
