Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner is confident the American team can return to the good form of a few years ago. Haas is in its worst Formula One season in the team's short existence in 2021.

Haas looking for old form

Haas came onto the grid in 2016 as a new Formula One team. It attracted an experienced driver with Romain Grosjean and in 2017 Kevin Magnussen joined the team as the Frenchman's teammate. From 2016 to 2018, there was a strong upward trend at the team, but since 2019, things have been getting worse.

Haas has taken a big gamble in 2021, first of all with the line-up: Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin both coame over from Formula 2 and had very little experience with the modern Formula 1 car. In addition, the team would not bring upgrades to the weakly performing VF-21 the team is driving this year, in order to put the full focus on 2022.

It's never enough for Steiner

Despite all this, Steiner is at MotorsportWeek.com is optimistic about the future: "You are never in a comfortable position, you always want more as the day you don’t want more you should change job – especially in F1."

Steiner sees a lot of improvements in the team. "Technical wise, with Simone Resta leading the technical group, we have a leader now again, and I see good progress there. I’m pretty hopeful and confident that we will get back to our old form."
