Sergio Perez ended the qualifying session at Silverstone in fifth place. His best time might have been good for a better starting position on Saturday, but because of exceeding track limits it was removed. Nonetheless, the Red Bull Racing driver sees opportunities for the sprint race.

Asked by Sky Sports how he looks back on his qualifying, he said: "I went wide in Turn 15, and my best lap was removed. That's a shame, but those are the rules and luckily I only lost one place with it."

Pérez not satisfied with car in Q3 either

Max Verstappen ran into problems in the latter part of qualifying, and indicated that it was due to the tyres. Pérez was also not entirely satisfied with the car in that part of the session. "We improved a lot on the car throughout the day, but at the end of Q3 I felt a difference in the balance and I couldn't get everything out of the car," explained the 31-year-old Mexican.

He continued: "P4 would have been better, but we have the sprint race to move further forward on the grid for Sunday, so there's still plenty to play for. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, because it will be interesting to see what will happen in the new sprint format and how much progress we can make in that race," said Pérez.
