The 11th Grand Prix of 2021 is scheduled to take place this weekend at the Hungaroring in Hungary. Lewis Hamilton has taken the win on the last three occasions, but Red Bull Racing will be looking to break that hegemony. The first free practice session will lay the foundations for the remaining sessions.

LIVE: Hungarian Grand Prix

The first free practice will start at 10:30am. The drivers and teams will then have 60 minutes to explore the track for the first time this weekend. Later in the afternoon, FP2 will follow.

It promises to be pretty warm on Friday. The temperature could even rise up to 35 degrees Celsius in Budapest, so the drivers will have to drink enough and the Pirelli tyres will have a hard time. Red Bull Racing think that the hot conditions will be to their advantage.

Max Verstappen will want to go into the summer break leading the world championship. The Hungarian Grand Prix is the last race before the Formula 1 circus gets a three-week break. The difference with rival Lewis Hamilton is only eight points after Verstappen recorded a DNF during the British GP two weeks ago.

The battle resumes

The two rivals have been battling at the top of the World Championship since March. Last time out in Silverstone, Hamilton and Verstappen touched. The Dutchman crashed out of the race, whilst the stewards deemed Hamilton to be at fault and gave him a 10-second penalty. Hamilton won the race and significantly cut the gap.

After a quiet weekend, the two rejoin the circuit together for the first time since the incident. Both drivers won't be giving an inch as they look to pick up momentum going into the summer break.
