It is the nightmare of every Grand Prix organizer, not being able to continue the race as happened on Sunday at Spa. The weather conditions were so bad that the race could not be driven, especially because of the poor visibility for the drivers. The hope is of course that Zandvoort will be spared this weekend.

Expected rain on Sunday

From Friday 3 through Sunday 5 September, Formula 1 will be back at Zandvoort for the first time in 36 years. Actually, the Netherlands were supposed to host a Grand Prix last year, but the measures surrounding the coronavirus threw a spanner in the works. This year the event can go ahead, but with a lower capacity.

The last thing Dutch GP needs is a rained out event. The good news is that on Friday and Saturday there seems little to worry about. According to Weather.com both days it will be around 20/21 degrees Celsius and mostly clear. So the fans can look forward to perfect conditions for a Formula 1 weekend.

On Sunday however, it is a different story. Although with 22 degrees it is slightly warmer than the days before, there are heavy rain showers predicted in the afternoon. Exactly at the time, the race will take place. It is doubtful if the same conditions as in Belgium will occur, but the drivers will probably not stay dry in the Netherlands either.
