Yuki Tsunoda will stay on the Formula 1 grid next season and will continue at AlphaTauri. He will continue to partner Pierre Gasly at the Red Bull junior team after the team confirmed they will stick with exactly the same line up ready for the new rules and regulations in 2022.

The Japanese driver made his debut at the start of the 2021 season and burst onto the scene. Results haven't been spectacular of late, but he has scored 18 points in the 2021 season so far. He achieved a P6 finish in Hungary.

Tsunoda looks to build on this experience next season. “I’m really excited to be staying with Scuderia AlphaTauri for a second season," Tsunoda said in the initial press release.

"It’s an incredible opportunity and I’m so thankful to the team for letting me continue to grow my experience in Formula 1 with them."

Pierre Gasly

Gasly will get another year at AlphaTauri. The Frenchman has developed a leadership role of the last couple of seasons, which could increase his chances of a future drive at Red Bull Racing alongside Max Verstappen. Tsunoda explains how he enjoys working with Gasly.

"I have a very good relationship with Pierre, I have learnt a lot from him already this year and his experience has helped me to keep developing my own skills, so it’s great to be continuing my F1 journey with him. Having recently moved out to Faenza I am feeling very settled within the team and am looking forward to the upcoming season," Tsunoda added.
