It looks like Formula 1 is not completely free from the inconsistent penalties of the FIA. Although the FIA is doing everything possible to be as consistent as possible, Esteban Ocon is indignant about the decisions of the stewards in Monza.

Inconsistency at the FIA

Ocon who himself picked up a five-second time penalty due to an incident with Sebastian Vettel in turn four of the Temple of Speed was surprised that he did get a time penalty now whereas in 2019 it was very different.

Motorsportweek.com quotes the Frenchman: “We’ve worked extremely hard on a difficult weekend and we lost out on some racing incidents which for once I disagree with, what happened in the race.”

Hamilton and Leclerc got away with it

Ocon looks back and cites the 2019 season: “I got the five-second penalty for Seb, the same happened to Lewis and Charles in 2019." The Mercedes and Ferrari drivers did not receive a penalty for this at the time.

“The track basically becomes more narrow, we had a little contact but no damage between the two cars."

Ocon's time penalty is not the only debatable fact of the Monza GP. Also, the incident between Hamilton and Max Verstappen was investigated after the race and decided against Verstappen. The Dutchman receives a three-place grid penalty. A penalty which is still a matter of discussion.
