Lewis Hamilton had a strong start to the Turkish Grand Prix, but was stuck in fifth place. The Mercedes driver was unhappy that his team pulled him in for a pit stop with eight laps to go and says a lot of points were lost there.

Hamilton not happy with pit stop

"I don’t think it’s difficult to make the decisions. I don’t know what to say. It is what it is. We lost some points today, but we live and we learn," Hamilton revealed to Ziggo Sport's camera.

Hamilton was certainly not happy with the decision to make a pit stop just before the end of the race. "Of course I’m not. I think we should’ve stayed out. I probably could’ve made it happen, and should’ve. But it doens’t matter now. I didn’t because we work as a team. The team told me to come in."

Problems were coming

"But I just knew what would happen when you go on new wet tyres. They just grain and I only had eight laps. And we lost two places, nearly more," Hamilton revealed.

The Briton had to start from eleventh on Sunday as he was given a ten place penalty for new engine parts. As a result Hamilton had to overtake quite a few cars. He ended up behind Sergio Perez, which he struggled with, he admits: "The Red Bull was the hardest to overtake."
