The Formula 1 season is two Grands Prix away from a thrilling conclusion. Not only are Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton fighting for the world title, the historic battle for the Constructors' Championship can also still go either way.

In the last eleven seasons two teams have never been so close to each other. With 546.5 points for Mercedes and 541.5 for Red Bull Racing the teams are only five points apart. With anything can happen in the next two races, the question is which team will win the season.

The year 2010 comes closest to the current battle. Back then Red Bull and McLaren were 27 points apart. That seems like a decent number of points, but compared to the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020 seasons, this was very close. In those five years, Mercedes were more than 200 points ahead of their rivals with two races to go.

Performance of Perez and Bottas

Red Bull and Mercedes will not only be looking at Verstappen and Hamilton for the rest of this season, but also putting the pressure on Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. Both drivers have failed to maintain a high level of performance this season, resulting in a loss of points for the teams.
