Pierre Gasly impressed during the free practice sessions of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with his fast times. In qualifying he continued that form with a sixth position. Nevertheless, the driver of AlphaTauri was not completely satisfied, as he admitted in conversation with Speedweek.com.

The Frenchman had a hard time accepting that he did not manage to improve on Sergio Perez's time. "I was only two thousandths off Sergio Pérez's fourth time. That is not much. That's why it's a bit frustrating," Gasly stated. "Nevertheless, sixth on the grid is a good starting point to score points in the race."

Gasly can be satisfied with qualifying

However, he was more than satisfied with the remainder of qualifying. Gasly got through the first two sessions fairly easily and then managed to sit not far off the times of Charles Leclerc and Perez. They achieved fourth and fifth starting positions respectively.

"Qualifying went great, although this time it was a bit more difficult than in the last practice sessions. I wasn't so confident in the car, because I had problems with the balance throughout the session. But in the end I drove a good lap that I'm very happy with."
