Alexander Albon has finished his first day of work at Williams. The former Red Bull Racing driver is happy to have completed the first laps in the simulator and get to know the team better.

Russell's replacement

Last season it was announced that George Russell would be leaving the Williams team after three seasons for an adventure with reigning world champion Mercedes. This meant for Williams that they had to find a replacement. Eventually this search ended at Albon, who himself functioned as a reserve at Red Bull in 2021.

Albon immediately into the simulator

Albon has since had his first day as a Williams driver and he says he is happy to finally see the team in their work environment rather than in the paddock. "Obviously we’re in weird times right now so it’s a bit quieter than it normally would be, but it was nice to get a good day of simulator work in," he let us know on the website of his new team.

"These are really exciting times, it was great to get straight to it and start developing the car so we can to get it in the best window possible for when we take to the track," concludes Albon. The Thai-British driver will be teammate with Nicholas Latifi in 2022, whom he knows from his Formula 2 days at DAMS.
