McLaren driver Lando Norris has admitted that his energy levels have been at their lowest for "a long time" during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. The youngster has been feeling unwell, and says he has been struggling to see at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as he pilots his 320 km/h Formula 1 car. It has also left him losing sleep, reducing his energy levels significantly over the course of the event. "I've been much better. I've not been great all weekend, to be honest with you," Norris told members of the media, including RacingNews365.com , after qualifying. "I am just suffering with my throat and my eyes, and seeing, which doesn't help. My energy levels are probably the worst I've had in a long time. "I'm definitely not at my peak this weekend, but I was so happy to be in Q3 and to do the lap I did, with how this weekend has gone so far. I'm quite surprised and this makes me feel good."
Norris starting Spanish GP outside top 10
Norris will start the Spanish Grand Prix from 11th on the grid, having been out-qualified by teammate Daniel Ricciardo. He will be looking to make up places on race day, with the two Haas cars, and the Alfa Romeo of Valtteri Bottas, ahead of him. It was so nearly a top 10 start for Norris before he had a late lap time deleted in Q2 for exceeding track limits. Replays showed just how close Norris was to remaining within the white lines, but he was accepting of his punishment. "From the onboards, it looked like I was on the track, but from the outboards, from the FIA, I was clearly off the track," the Briton commented. "It's as simple as that. Once you're off, you're off. It's simple."
