Lando Norris finished in eighth place in Spain, but it was not without a struggle. The McLaren driver indicated on Saturday that he has not been very fit for some time. Despite this, the young Briton did just get into the car and scored four World Cup points, but he did not appear in the square after the race. Andreas Seidl reveals what's going on with Norris.

After the flag fell, Norris was examined by the team doctor, according to the McLaren team boss at Motorsport-Magazin.com."It was a difficult race for him, especially with the heat. He was pretty broken after the race, but he has good medical support from the team around him. The goal is clear: recover well for Monaco."

According to Seidl, Norris is suffering from tonsillitis, an inflammation of the tonsils of the throat. Earlier Norris was tested for the coronavirus and hay fever, but this turned out not to be it in both cases The next Grand Prix weekend starts already in five days in Monaco. For Norris it is therefore important to rest well in the coming week, so that he appears fitter at the start in the principality.

Norris evaluates Spanish GP

In the McLaren press release, Norris himself says about his race: "Today was tough. I was feeling really unwell before the race as I'm suffering with tonsillitis, and that, in combination with the high temperatures, made this one of the hardest races I've ever done. I've been a bit on the backfoot this weekend as most of my energy has been spent fighting off this illness. I've had to miss a lot of engineering sessions, which has compromised my weekend, and I definitely wasn't as prepared as I could have been. With that in mind, I'm really pleased to have come out of the race with decent points for the team."
