Ferrari and Red Bull make pre-race car changes

After sliding into the Red Bull of Sergio Perez during the final moments of Saturday's qualifying, Carlos Sainz has had some parts changed on his Ferrari ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. Perez's RB18 has also undergone modifications.

Ferrari have confirmed that they have changed Carlos Sainz's gearbox as a precaution after his crash in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. With just 30 seconds left on the clock, Sergio Perez hit the barrier at the entrance of the tunnel and, moments later, Sainz spun at the same corner. The F1-75 knocked into Perez's Red Bull, resulting in both cars blocking the track and bringing the session to a premature end. Following the incident, the Scuderia opted to carry out the modifications to Sainz's car as a precautionary measure, which also included changing the parts of the rear end that were damaged. These changes will not incur a penalty.

Changes carried out on Perez's RB18

Perez has also had various changes carried out on his RB18. This has included the complete gearbox assembly, as well as modifications to the rear wing and floor assembly. The Mexican will start the race from P3 on the grid, while Sainz sits on the front row in P2, alongside his pole-sitter teammate Charles Leclerc.
