Alpine has launched a new project called Rac(H)er. The objective of the project is already reflected in the name: more women should be involved in motor sports and the project also looks at the possibility of a woman as an F1 driver.

Alpine came out with a press release on Thursday revealing a new project. Rac(H)er's goal is to make motor racing more inclusive. The focus is on women. Currently, Alpine has twelve percent female employees, but the goal is to increase that number to thirty in five years' time. From now on, Alpine will also apply a policy of 50 per cent men and 50 per cent women.

Women in F1

Racing talent is also considered. The press release highlights that in 72 years of F1, only 6 of the 885 F1 drivers were women. Women are not supported until very late and therefore do not have a fair chance to make it to F1, according to Alpine. The French racing team wants to change that by putting a lot of (financial) resources into this project.

''Our role, as a Formula 1 team and a brand of the Renault Group is to commit to making our ecosystem more inclusive and making diversity our strength. We are aware of the need for a profound transformation of both the sport and the industry so that all talents can flourish in the future. By launching Rac(H)er, this long-term transformation programme, we hope to be joined by all the players in the sector, because it is only by uniting that we will be able to make real progress. And that would be our real success," said Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi.
