Could heavy rain shake up the grid at the British GP?

After showers hit during Free Practice 1 at the British Grand Prix, the chance of rain falling at Silverstone again on Saturday looks to be high.

There could potentially be a dramatic qualifying in store at the British Grand Prix, with a strong chance of rain arriving at Silverstone. Weather caused disruption during Friday's opening practice session, as showers prevented many drivers from putting many laps in. However, a drier track in Free Practice 2 allowed for more running. But, according to weather provider WeerOnline , the risk of rain falling in Saturday's practice and qualifying sessions is high. Showers will head towards Silverstone from the west, and are expected to arrive just as Free Practice 3 begins at 12:00 BST. There is a high chance of rain continuing into qualifying at 15:00 BST, and the showers could be heavy, resulting in a very wet track and poor visibility.

All change expected for Sunday

However, it looks like Sunday's race could take place in very different conditions. The chance of rain is much lower, with the risk of showers only at 25 per cent. The sun will most likely break through the clouds, and temperatures of 19 degrees Celsius are expected, making it a pleasant day for fans attending the event. Looking ahead, the British Grand Prix forms part of a back-to-back sequence of races, with the next race taking place in Austria in just one week's time. As things stands, it seems that the forecast could be similar at the Red Bull Ring, as showers could hit on Friday and Saturday.
