Zhou Guanyu says the Halo safety device on his Alfa Romeo car saved him as he skated across the Silverstone gravel, upside down, and into the catch fencing. The Chinese driver has confirmed that he is "okay" after a horror crash that caused a near-hour-long delay to the British Grand Prix. Zhou made contact with both Pierre Gasly and George Russell before his car flipped upside down and bounced over the tyre barrier and towards a packed grandstand. Thankfully, the circuit's catch fencing did its job, with Zhou stopped before any spectators could be harmed.

Zhou: I'm okay, all clear
Zhou was then left needing immediate medical attention as the red flag was thrown – but his team soon confirmed that he was okay. After being given the all-clear by medical staff at the Silverstone Circuit, Zhou himself confirmed that he was "okay" as he thanked the Halo for saving him from more serious injuries. He said: "I'm okay, all clear. [The] Halo saved me today. Thanks [to] everyone for your kind messages!" Williams driver Alex Albon, who was involved in a separate Lap 1 incident, was also taken to the Medical Centre, from where he has been transferred to Coventry Hospital for "precautionary checks".
