Quite unexpectedly, Max Verstappen increased his lead in the World Championship standings in Hungary. The Dutchman started from tenth on the grid, but thanks to a perfect strategy, managed to secure victory. Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa was also impressed by Verstappen's performance at the Hungaroring.

Few could have seen a Verstappen victory coming after the world champion qualified only tenth due to engine problems. While Red Bull and Verstappen opted for the right strategy, Ferrari went wrong by putting Charles Leclerc on hard tyres during his second pit stop. The Monegasque then fell back a long way and the Dutchman was able to take advantage.

"Am very impressed [with Max]. I was already very impressed last year," Massa said of the Dutchman in a broadcast of Sky Sports. The Brazilian continued: "If you compare the last qualifying, he qualified a second ahead of Perez."

Perfect

Massa sees a team that through good cooperation, chooses the right strategy. "In the end everything is perfect for him and the team to take the second title. And the team deserves it too. They have a very competitive car, a fast car, but in the race it is the best car in terms of how you use the tyres," Massa concluded.
