Schumacher fears for Binotto: His job is in danger over summer break

After a challenging weekend for Ferrari at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ralf Schumacher has cast doubt over the future of team boss Mattia Binotto.

Ralf Schumacher has questioned whether Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto could be at risk of losing his job following the team's recent issues. The Hungarian Grand Prix proved to be a difficult race for the Scuderia, with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc starting from P2 and P3 on the grid but ending the day in P4 and P6 due to pit-stop problems and a strategy blunder. With Max Verstappen going on to win, Ferrari have slipped even further behind Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship, while Leclerc now has an 80-point deficit to Verstappen in the Drivers' standings. As such, Schumacher fears that there could be consequences for some within the team.

Schumacher questions whether Binotto's job is safe

"I see two people's jobs in danger: Daniel [Ricciardo] and also Mattia," Schumacher told Sky Deutschland . "When you get the gift of being able to go for the World Championship with Ferrari and throw it away so carelessly, it should become difficult for you. "So I see him in danger during the summer break. There are too many little things that are going wrong and too many technical problems."

Ferrari strategy call "incomprehensible" to Schumacher

Schumacher was also left baffled by Ferrari's strategy decisions at the Hungaroring, with Leclerc struggling on the Hard tyre in his second stint before the Italian outfit opted to bring him in for a third stop to fit the Soft tyre, which then dropped him down to sixth. "The last stop by Leclerc was incomprehensible to me," the former F1 driver added. "I don't think Red Bull expected the help."
