Felipe Drugovich is having an impressive season with MP Motorsport in Formula 2. Aston Martin has also noticed this. The British team is said to be in talks with the 22-year-old about becoming a development driver. That is what Jayme Brito of the Brazilian Band reported this week.

Drugovich recently revealed in an interview with GPblog that he is hoping for a chance in Formula 1, but the chances of him winning a permanent seat are very slim. The Brazilian is not part of any F1 stable's junior programme and the number of seats available for 2023 is very small.

In Formula 2, Drugovich is in his third season in charge with 180 points. He is by no means sure of the championship, as Theo Pourchaire is right behind him with 159 points. However, he made a good impression in the first half of the season and could well win the title if he continues in this form.

Alonso and Stroll to take the points

Aston Martin will start next year with Fernando Alonso and probably Lance Stroll as its regular drivers. The latter has not yet been officially confirmed for 2023, but as the son of Aston Martin's own Lawrence Stroll, that seems to be a formality.

Whether Nico Hulkenberg will still be linked to Aston Martin next year is not certain. The German is currently active as a test and reserve driver, but it is possible that he will retire from Formula 1 after this season and focus on another motorsport class full time.
