Ferrari appeared to be a little quicker than Red Bull Racing at the Grands Prix of Austria and France, but despite this the Italians failed to get any closer to their rival. According to Helmut Marko, the two teams actually keep each other in balance in every race, he told Motorsport.com.

Red Bull's advisor believes that strategies, technical problems and the shape of the day are what make the difference between the two teams. Marko has seen the Austrian team suffer less from these and the gap has increased to such an extent that Max Verstappen now has an 80-point lead.

More poles for Ferrari in 2022

Ferrari secured far more pole positions than Red Bull in the first half of the season, but Marko feels this is not saying everything. He believes the team's performance puts them in a good starting position, but Ferrari often forget to finish on Sunday.

In addition, Marko believes Verstappen was actually faster than Ferrari in France, so his team certainly does not need to worry about the competitive edge between the two teams. Over the season as a whole, Marko expects them to stay close together, which is why Red Bull needs to stay sharp.
