Mercedes has been a contender for the world title since the 2014 season, but this year it is still trailing Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. Behind the scenes, however, Mercedes is working hard to narrow the gap even further. Toto Wolff is therefore confident of a good outcome, he told The Financial Times.

"Maybe we need to tweak here and there because psychology plays an important role," Wolff begins. "I believe this team has all it needs to be successful but with no sense of entitlement. I want this to be a blip and not a longer-term phase of not being able to compete at the front."

The Mercedes team boss, meanwhile, is doing everything he can to further improve the team. In the same interview he said that in the past he had analysed how Manchester United got into trouble. By looking over the shoulders of the football club Wolff was able to learn from the situation.

Mercedes on the way back
