Max Verstappen could win his second world title at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, but the Dutchman says he is not in a hurry. Verstappen is especially looking forward to a challenging weekend on the Marina Bay street circuit.

"We haven’t been to Singapore for a while so it will be interesting to see how the track has evolved. It’s definitely one of the best races of the year and it's a beautiful place to be. Its important to have a good qualifying lap here so we’ll be focussing on that", Verstappen begins in Red Bull Racing's press release.

Singapore's last GP took place in 2019. For the past two years, the race was not run due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will therefore be extra challenging to race again at the demanding circuit this coming weekend. "During the race we just have to be ready for anything as there’s usually a lot of safety cars. In general, it’s a challenging circuit, the humidity is tough on the body and it’s very difficult to do a perfect lap because of tight turns and how close the walls are", the Red Bull driver continues.

Verstappen remains relaxed

Verstappen can already take home the world title this coming weekend, but he will have to win the race. In addition, the Dutchman also depends on the result of rival Charles Leclerc and teammate Sergio Perez. There is a good chance that the title fight will continue in Japan next week, but Verstappen himself is in no hurry. With his large lead in the drivers' championship, it is only a matter of time.

"I don’t really think about the Championship, I just want to have a positive weekend on track and take it race by race, there’s no rush", says the Dutchman.
