Marina Bay weather: Is rain in store for the Singapore GP?

As well as having to adapt to racing at night, the drivers might be faced with some mixed weather conditions over the course of the Singapore Grand Prix weekened.

As Formula 1 returns to Singapore for the first time since 2019, a mixed weather forecast looks set to potentially add to the spectacle. The country's tropical climate means that hot and humid conditions are the norm, along with frequent and sometimes heavy showers. Winds tend to be low, though there can be a moderate breeze along the waterfront location of the Marina Bay Circuit. Over the course of the race weekend, F1 could be faced with some changing weather.

Showers could cause disruption

According to our friends at WeerOnline.nl , Friday will see a mixture of sunshine and overcast cloud, as well as the chance of a thunderstorm. However, with the first two practice hours taking place later in the day, it seems likely that the sessions will remain dry. The chance of showers increases into Saturday and especially Sunday. They are likely to subside into the evening, but there remains a strong possibility of wet conditions in both qualifying and the race. This could also result in the scenario of the event starting in the damp with the track drying out later on. Additionally, the likelihood of a shower hitting just before Sunday's Grand Prix is slightly higher than ahead of Saturday's qualifying. With this in mind, a heavy downpour could possibly result in delays or changes to the schedule.
