The World Cup is also keeping motorsport busy, it seems. IndyCar drivers Rinus 'VeeKay' van Kalmthout and Conor Daly have put it on a bet for the Netherlands - America match later today.

Teammates opposite each other

VeeKay - the Anglicized version of his name under which Van Kalmthout drives in America - and Daly are teammates in IndyCar with the Ed Carpenter Racing team. As in Formula 1, the IndyCar series is also currently in winter break and so both drivers have shifted their focus to the World Cup.

On Saturday afternoon, the Netherlands will play America in the eighth finals. Daly therefore suggested a bet on Twitter: "Okay Rinus, it's an important day for both our countries. If America wins you have to wear fake tattoos on your arms of the American flag all weekend. If the Netherlands wins I will put fake tattoos on of the Dutch flag. Deal?"

VeeKay was up for that: "Deal! But there should be some orange in it too, don't you think?" Daly then suggested that all his signatures during the race weekend should be done with an orange pen.

The weekend the two drivers are referring to is the St Petersburg Grand Prix in Florida, a street race that kicks off the IndyCar season. The race is scheduled for 5 March 2023, so it will be some time before the results of this bet can actually be seen.
