Italian media: 'Separation of jobs best for Ferrari'

Mattia Binotto's departure from Ferrari is causing the team quite a few problems ahead of the new season. Not only is he the Scuderia's team boss (until the end of December), Binotto also holds the position of technical director. So there is some work to do, in finding a successor. 

There will be a gap in both areas: there is no boss to manage a team and be responsible for anything in the organization, there is also no one in charge of the technical part. So, with Fred Vasseur the most frequently mentioned option to replace Binotto as a team boss, there must also be someone be head of the technical department. If it is up to the Gazzetta, it is the best to actually hire two people, rather than combining the jobs of the team boss and technical director.

Resta back?

The pink newspaper has someone in mind to lead the technical department: Simone Resta. He held a similar position at Alfa Romeo, during the time when Charles Leclerc raced for that team. Resta then returned to Ferrari, where he worked before. However, Resta had a difficult relationship with Binotto and was actually forced out by the team boss. Currently, Resta is working for Haas.

Ferrari already hinted that the final decision on who will succeed Binotto will not be made until next year. The team has not yet publicly commented on possible candidates. It is also unclear whether Ferrari intends to split the positions of team boss and technical director, just as the Gazzetta hopes.
