It could mean waiting until Friday, but it seems increasingly plausible that Red Bull Racing is going to come up with some big news. The team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez could announce Ford's commitment to Red Bull during the launch of the new car in New York.

There are increasing indications that Ford is making its return to Formula 1. For example, sources have told Mirror Sport that Ford and Red Bull are in talks and a deal is expected. However, the English newspaper adds that pen hasn't yet been put to paper. Journalist Vincenzo Landino also thinks a deal is imminent. He wrote on Twitter that Ford is sending content creators and influencers to New York on the very same day that Red Bull presents the car.

Ford's role?

Red Bull Racing has been busy creating its own power unit since last year. Currently, the Austrian team still uses Honda's engines, although they are officially called Red Bull Powertrains. From 2026, Red Bull would make the power unit entirely in-house. With that, it seems ruled out that Ford will build complete engines for Red Bull. It is more likely that Ford will take care of a small part of the development. It is also possible that Ford will become a sponsor of Red Bull, similar to Alfa Romeo currently at Sauber.

Red Bull's launch will take place in New York for the first time. Sister team AlphaTauri will also be in the US city to show the new car to the public for the first time. That will happen on Saturday, February 11.
